Her research combines the fields of Chemical Biology, Organic Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics -Reengineering functional RNAs, small molecule targeting of RNAs, and mechanistic studies ofRNA-based gene regulation. Ming Hammond received her B.S. degree from the California Institute of Technology and Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley. She created and maintains the web site youstem.org that consolidates opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math for primary and secondary school students in the greater bay area. In the spring of 2011 assistant professor Hammond was awarded a National Institute of Health New Innovator grant.
