On Wednesday, November 5th at 2pm, Excuse My French hosts trumpeter, composer, and vocalist, Sarah Wilson, for a live in-studio interview ahead of her performance at The Back Room in Berkeley on Saturday, November 8th.
Sarah Wilson has emerged as “one of the most intriguing and promising composers and trumpeters on the contemporary music scene,” (San Francisco Chronicle). While deeply shaped by jazz, Wilson’s music stylistically owes as much to avant pop, Afro-Latin grooves and indie rock as the post-bop continuum. Wilson’s artistic work reflects a dynamic interplay of theater, jazz, dance, and film, which frame her unique, fresh compositional style.
November 8th’s Berkeley performance celebrates the release of Wilson’s brand new album, Incandescence, a radiant collection showcasing her singular voice as both a composer and improviser.
Known for weaving together jazz, chamber, and folk influences, Wilson has carved out a space that is as intimate as it is daring. Incandescence highlights her gift for lyrical writing and inventive interplay, earning early praise for its warmth, depth, and originality.
