The KALX Radio community is greatly saddened by the devastating warehouse fire in Oakland on December 2, 2016. KALX is a strong supporter of the local, independent arts and music communities in the Bay Area, and we deeply feel the loss of the vibrant artists and art enthusiasts. Our thoughts and condolences go out to families and friends who have lost loved ones.
It is with a heavy heart in the KALX community that we share the loss of 4 KALX volunteers among the deaths confirmed in the warehouse fire in Oakland on December 2, 2016.
- Chelsea Faith Dolan (DJ Cherushii) was a volunteer with almost 4 years at KALX. We will feel the loss of her vibrant personality, generous heart, and contributions to the station.
- Griffin Madden (DJ Laura) was a recent former volunteer with almost 2 years at KALX. His passionate, genuine personality and thoughtfulness will be greatly missed.
- Vanessa Plotkin joined KALX recently. We will feel the loss of her kindness, bright smile, and love for music.
- Jennifer Morris was a new recruit at KALX. We will remember her excitement to discover new music at the station and her charming, outgoing personality.
