On Wednesday, April 22nd at 7pm, Last Will and Petra Core will rebroadcast a brief 12 minute 1989 KALX interview with Queen Latifah when she was just a 19 year old up and coming rapper. This is in honor of her recent induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this past April 14th.
Rickey Vincent, aka The Uhuru Maggot, and Last Will were counting down their selections for the best funk songs of the 1980s when DJ Davey D brought Queen Latifah into the studio for a quick unscheduled chat. She had been at Leopold’s Records promoting her just released 1989 debut album, All Hail The Queen.
Davey D introduced her and had a short conversation with her. Then, after a song, Rickey asks Latifah to announce her favorite jam of the decade which is then played to end her visit.
