Ava Roy on Method to the Madness

Posted on August 31, 2013

-1_0

On Friday, September 13th @ noon Lisa Kiefer will interview We Players founding Artistic Director, Ava Roy on Method to the Madness.  They will talk about the innovative theater company’s current performances of MACBETH at Fort Point (under the Golden Gate Bridge!) where participants find themselves in full sensory immersion in the dark stone corridors, narrow passageways, expansive brick case mates, and inner chambers of the fort along with the billowing fog and relentless wind.

Founded by Ava Roy at Stanford University in 2000, Ava Roy has served the company as director/producer and as a performer. As an actor, Ava has trained primarily with Shakespeare & Company of Massachusetts, has taught in their youth education programs, and performed with the company. Since 2008, Ava has pioneered unique partnerships with both the National Park Service and the California State Park system, creating large-scale performances at park sites throughout the Bay Area including ULYSSES on Angel Island IN 2012. Her unique style of interactive, site-integrated performance aims to highlight the historical and natural treasures of the local landscape and encourage new ways of experiencing and appreciating these places
