The Pencil Sharpener Best of 2019

Posted on January 21, 2020

Altin Gün- Gece (album of the year for me, fun af dutch band that refashions anatolian rhythms into psych rock jewels, süpürgesi yonçadan is the banger to begin with and their first album should be consumed in short measure)
Ana Roxanne – ~~~
Angel Olsen – All Mirrors
Arp – Zebra
Automatic – Signal
Boy Harsher – Careful
Helado Negro – This is How You Smile
Jenny Hval – The Practice of Love (Ashes to Ashes, An Accident)
Jesca Hoop – Stonechild
Marika Hackman – Any Human Friend (I’m Not Where You Are, All Night)
Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky – Droneflower (Estranged, For the Sun)
Nikola Cruz – Siku (keywords include Ecuador, indigenous studies, electronic)
Wand – Laughing Matter (the whole album may not be ***** but Evening Star is definitely a must listen)
Weyes Blood – Titanic Rising (cry to Mirror Forever, Something to Believe)
