Strap in for this week’s edition of KALX Live! where Good Juju and Feel Good Weird share hosting duties. Burrowed in the performance studio will be San Francisco’s Buddy Junior. Tune in at 9pm on January 11th for your own private concert, followed by an interview with the band, with selections from the archive throughout.
Buddy Junior is a bay area based emo-gaze project helmed by JB Lenar, with members of Christina’s Trip, JOCK, and Held. Buddy Junior was once thought of as a recording project of JB’s with a rotating cast of members supporting a live project, but has since settled into a more consistent lineup of members that includes three guitars, three singers, bass, drums, and samples. Songs for Buddy Junior were initially recorded and performed in 2019 but the band took a long hiatus during a few of the pandemic years. This current lineup has been playing shows since mid 2023. JB also runs the bay area tape label, Cherub Dream Records, who put out the band’s latest album, Rust, on 2/22/24. They’re about to head south for a five date SoCal tour at the end of February.
