This week on the “KALX Live!” show DJ Cia Cia La Pirata welcomes The Bye Bye Blackbirds from Oakland. The band will perform a set that includes some tunes from their Spring ‘22 release “August Lightning Complex”.
The band’s sound straddles the genre lines, often defying easy classification. Comfy melodies, tight harmonies, and intelligent songwriting let their music move at will through territories of indie rock, power pop, and even Americana.
But why get hung up on classification? As long as you “play at maximum volume”, that’s what they’d say is the most important.
