On Friday, February 27th, Cal Performances will host a reception for UC Berkeley students attending the performance of Chris Thile.
A dazzling virtuoso and musical shapeshifter, the “extroverted, stellar, and spectacular mandolinist” (Los Angeles Times) Chris Thile brings the full range of emotions to his recital performances. Thile is always compelling, whether shredding on the mandolin, singing a ballad, or telling charming stories that recall his time as host of the public radio program Live from Here. The four-time Grammy winner and MacArthur “genius” award recipient performs an eclectic program, including selections from his new recording of Bach sonatas and partitas—a love letter to the composer and a joyous reflection on a lifetime communing with his music.
For the 2025–26 season, Cal Performances has planned four post-performance receptions to celebrate the UC Berkeley students in our community and to provide a space for you to connect with other students who share a love for live performance! Free light refreshments will be served on the Zellerbach Hall Mezzanine for all UCB student ticket holders and their guests.
