Posted on September 28, 2021

Charles Amirkhanian

On Method to the Madness, Friday October 8 at noon, host Lisa Kiefer Katovich, will speak with Charles Amirkhanian, Bay Area composer, sound artist, percussionist and radio producer. He is also co-founder, executive director, and artistic director of Other Minds, the adventurous annual program of new and unusual music by innovative composers and performers, young and old, from around the world. Other Minds is celebrating its 25th year on October 14-17 at the Atrium Theater at 401 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco. Charles will discuss how Other Minds got started, his 20+ years as music director at KPFA, memorable Other Minds performances over the years, the challenges that Covid-19 presents to festivals and what we can expect in the future.  This year’s theme is Moment’s Notice – a festival of improvised music and it was curated by Harry Bernstein who will discuss the participating artists and programs with Sparkle Motion following Method to the Madness.
