Desolation Girl and Ness continue the East Bay Emo Revival on this week’s ~psme radio~ featuring an interview with the Bay Area’s very own Curling before their show at 924 Gilman later that night!
Vocalist and guitarist, Bernie Gelman, will be visiting the KALX studio for an in-person interview and premiere of new music from the band on Sunday, July 13th at 6pm. Curling began as a collaboration between high school friends Bernie and Jojo with a self-titled release in 2016—since then, they’ve managed to keep the musical dreams alive despite being on different continents. Growing and evolving with each release, the band has consistently captured an exciting mix of power pop, emo, and guitar-driven DIY sensibilities. Although they’ve had roots in the Bay Area for many years (as shown through their common presence in the local DIY scene), Bernie’s about to make a big move to Austin, TX—with that in mind, we’re so excited to talk more about the band’s past, present, and future plans before they begin their next chapter.
Tune in to catch the talk, music premiere, and a selection of inspirational tracks. In the meantime, you can find Curling on Bandcamp, Instagram, and at 924 Gilman on Sunday, July 13th!
In the spirit of Bay Area alternative, stay tuned ’til the end of the show for a tribute to San Francisco musician Mark Rodgers (ribbon fix, Shroomunion, The Devil’s Own, and many more) on the 10th anniversary of his passing in 2015.
