Daffo, the project of Brooklyn-based artist Gabi Gamberg, recently spoke with Red Rider before their upcoming show at The Chapel in SF. Tune in on Saturday, September 28th at 3:30pm to hear their conversation before Daffo hits the stage later that same night.
With a poetic specificity that cuts right to the heart, Daffo speaks an unfiltered truth about all that sets them apart from the wider world, exploring everything from shame and self-loathing to misplaced affection and the chaos of living with an overactive brain.
As a kid growing up in the Philadelphia suburbs, Gamberg first started writing songs after taking up guitar at age 9, then later shaped their intimate yet frenetic sound by playing countless DIY shows in backyards and basements.
Latest album release, Pest/Crisis Kit, out September 20th combines Daffo’s 2021 debut EP with its 2023 follow-up, which Paste Magazine called “thoughtful, confessional songwriting [that] is simply undeniable”. Daffo recently released a reimagined rendition of their breakout hit “Poor Madeline” featuring the Portland-based folk artist Searows as well as a remix of their infectious single “Good God” by Porches.
