The FCC and FEMA will be conducting a joint test of the national Emergency Alert System on Wed. Oct 4. At 11:18AM PDT, cell phones will begin to receive notifications from the system. At 11:20AM PDT, all radio and television stations will air a one minute test of the Emergency Broadcast System.
You will not be required to take any action. This is simply a test of the network that is meant to be used in case of a national emergency.
Since this is the first Wed. of the month, campus will do its monthly test of the campus-wide alert system at noon that day as well. Again, you will not be required to take any action during this test, but you will hear the campus-wide sirens and test alert messages.
