Erin Brandt on The Graduates

Posted on October 19, 2016

cropped_profile

It’s time for The Graduates‘ spooky Halloween episode! This year, learn how to get a mate without being eaten. That’s right, it’s a spider episode! Join us on Tuesday, October 25th @ 9AM as we speak with Erin Brandt, spider biologist in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management at UC Berkeley.

Erin’s work focuses on the mating behaviors of jumping spiders in the Santa Rita Mountains of Arizona. In the episode, Erin talks about different kinds of spider webs, how spider eyes work, what makes spiders different from insects, and why (even though it’s Halloween season) you shouldn’t be afraid of spiders.

The Graduates, highlighting graduate student research at Berkeley and around the world, is broadcast every other Tuesday at 9AM on KALX. Past episodes are available to listen and download free on iTunes or online.
