Listen in on Thursday, September 3rd at 8am when Massari speaks with Italian musician Gigi Masin before he plays St. Mark’s Lutheran Church later that same evening.
This year, Gigi Masin released his new album, Movement, on Sacred Bones Records. He is also marking the 40th anniversary of his ambient classic, Wind, which is getting a deluxe reissue from the top archival label, Numero Group.
Wind, now a cult classic with songs sampled by artists like Bjork and Post Malone, is a legendary 1986 album that was almost forgotten. Rediscovered when music fans and the diggers at label Music From Memory released a compilation of his work in 2014. That same year, Gigi also released several albums with younger collaborators, including Tempelhof as well as Jonny Nash and Young Marco as Gaussian Curve.
Since Gigi’s initial renaissance, he has continued to release new solo albums as well as more collaborative releases with Matt Papich (AKA Co La) and Beautiful Swimmers’ Max D as Lifted, two albums with one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists Greg Foat, the striking Red Hair Girl At Lighthouse Beach with Rod Modell and so much more.
