Ginger Root Interview

Posted on November 29, 2024

Head shot of Ginger Root.

Join Frontal Lobe on Saturday, November 30th at 5pm to hear their recent conversation with Huntington Beach-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, and visual artist, Cameron Lew, AKA Ginger Root.

On his newest album, Shinbangumi, Lew takes his self-described “aggressive elevator soul” audio-visual storytelling to new heights. He expands world he created with the 2022 release, Nisemono, which catalogues the rise and fall of an alternate reality Ginger Root as a reluctant songwriter thrust into unexpected pop star limelight.

During the conversation, Lew brings us along for the ride as he touches on his formative years in an immersive sink-or-swim high school band class, his parallel passions for film and production work, and how he’s kept his day-one friends and collaborators involved throughout the growth of the Ginger Root project.

Listeners can experience the expanding Ginger Root cinematic universe both sonically and audio-visually on YouTube, where his creativity and renaissance man approach to absorbing skills are on display to engaging effect.
