Tune in on Tuesday, March 18th at 7pm to hear Frontal Lobe in conversation with Hudson Valley-based experimental ambient musician, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, ahead of the Friday, March 21st release of his latest album, Gift Songs.
Touching on references stretching from the subtleties of natural landscapes to the reverent Shaker “gift drawings,” Cantu-Ledesma’s latest release invites the listener to immerse themselves in a rich, long-form tapestry of sound. Tapping a talented group of contributors including Omer Shemesh, Joseph Weiss, Clarice Jensen, and Booker Stardrum, Cantu-Ledesma skillfully weaves the acoustic (piano, cello, drums, pump organs) and a touch of the electric (Hammond B3 organ, bass guitar) into five quietly ecstatic tracks. Gift Songs feels like a natural extension of Cantu-Ledesma’s longtime exploration of drone textures, mining the unexpected through collaboration, and the subjective experience of the sublime.
Listeners can get a sneak peak of the album during the Gift Songs virtual listening party on Wednesday, March 19th at 12pm PDT.
