On Monday, September 15th at 1pm, Test Pattern hosts local bassist, songwriter, and bandleader, Kurt Ribak for a live in-studio interview.
Kurt describes his music as “Charles Mingus meets The Meters. They go to Duke Ellington’s house to jam, and Cachao and Thelonious Monk sit in.” Kurt has three albums as the Kurt Ribak Trio, and three more as Kurt Ribak. The albums feature his own compositions, which are original yet accessible.
Ribak has worked with a variety of artists, including avant-garde guitarist Henry Kaiser, stride jazz pianist Mike Lipskin, former Tom Waits sidemen Myles Boisen and Ralph Carney, singer Faye Carol, modern classical singer John Duykers, swing / bluegrass fiddler Katie Glassman, percussionist William Winant, and trombonist Julian Priester.
