Lashon’s research focuses on early African-American literature and folk tales, and how the black community creates an understanding of what it means to be black. In the interview, Lashon talks about her graduate work studying Br’er Rabbit, the famous literary figure, as well as her experience as a children’s author. Lashon’s first play, The Carter Sisters, is debuting on September 13th in Dwinelle Hall.
