On Tuesday, December 26th @ 10am, Pacifica interviews local musician, Lynda Carson.
Lynda Carson is a longtime acoustic steel string guitarist, former guitar builder and stringed instrument repair person who graduated from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in 1977, and repaired guitars and stringed instruments in Hollywood at Guitar Villa, and Studio Instrument Rentals (S.I.R.), in the early 80s.
In 1985, Carson built an acoustic steel string guitar in the guitar workshop of famed Master Luthier, Ervin Somogyi, that was similar to a guitar that Somogyi built for guitarist Michael Hedges, who passed away a number of years ago.
She also spent a number of years as a member of local filmmaker Rob Nilsson’s film acting groups called the “Tenderloin Action Group” and “Tenderloin Group”. “When Just Cause Oakland” (JCO) formed back around 2000, as a tenant activist, Carson became the interim press officer for JCO, and helped to bring a Just Cause anti-eviction ordinance to the public that was passed by the voters.
As a longtime Oakland resident, community activist, and local journalist, Lynda Carson is excited to spread some love and good vibes with some of her eclectic original solo acoustic guitar music.
