In March of 2020, without much notice, our physical space was shut down for our over 200 volunteers and our station management team. Our studios, our music library, our operating offices, and our ability to be with each other was taken away. KALX was able to adapt quickly and to remain on the air. During the past 7 months our KALX family has come together, albeit remotely and online, and achieved the unexpected.
Here at KALX, we are so proud that we have continued broadcasting. Technology was enabled to set up remote broadcasting; we purchased microphones and digital music and figured out how to make radio from home; we commiserated, tutored each other on audio recording, and distributed lists of songs online. Through 2020 we have brought you quality KALX programming from not only our DJs, but also our Public Affairs, Sports, and News departments.
We’re proud to still be here today… and sincerely hope that in these recent difficult times we have provided you with moments of pleasure and enjoyment. We hope that because of KALX you’ve had incidents of rocking out, dancing in the kitchen, singing in the car, raising a fist, and feeling less alone. We hope that you’ve been moved by a song, discovered a great band, identified with some lyrics, and felt your membership in this KALX family.
We thank you, the listeners, for taking this journey with us. And for your support during this year’s fundraiser.
