“Raincoats” Interview

Posted on January 15, 2018

600x600bf

On Monday, January 29 @ 4PM, DJ Fernando will host a special interview of “Raincoats” author Jenn Pelly conducted by musician Megan March.

Megan March is the drummer and vocalist for Berkeley peace punk duo, Street Eaters. She also runs East Bay punk label, Nervous Intent Records.

Jenn Pelly is a music journalist, author, and contributing editor at Pitchfork. Her work has appeared in SPIN, Nylon, and the Village Voice and online at Rolling Stone and The New York Times. Her recent book, The Raincoats, is the 126th publication in the 33 1/3 series. 33 1/3 is a series of books with each volume written about a single album.

In this short book, author Jenn Pelly tells the story of the Raincoats’ debut album, which Kurt Cobain listed as #20 in his favorite 50 records of all time, and once called “wonderfully classic scripture.” Pelly dives into the S/T album with rare archival material and interviews with members of the Raincoats, Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, Hole, Scritti Politti, Gang of Four, and more.
