Recombinant Festival Interview

Posted on March 2, 2020

Recombinant

On Tuesday, March 3rd @ 11:30AM, DJ Surface Tension hosts artistic director and founder of Recombinant Media Labs, Naut Humon, to discuss the upcoming March 6-7th Recombinant Festival at Grey Area in San Francisco.

This year’s festival will include Audio/Visual performances by artists from Russia, Germany, Austria, the Bay Area, and other parts of the United States. The festival is now in its fifth year and is one of the few festivals in the U.S. that consistently champions emerging and underground artists.

Now in its fifth year, the festival promises an even more ambitious program, with live widescreen AV performances by Christian Fennesz (Austria) & Lillevan (Berlin), Ryoichi Kurokawa (Osaka & Berlin), Byetone (Germany) is Olaf Bender, 404.Zero (Russia), Saariselka (USA), and many more.

Recombinant Media Labs (RML) was founded in 1991 by Naut Humon. Its mission was to research and deploy the cultural qualities and artistic potential of spatial cinema and surround musics.
