On the next Method to the Madness, Friday, December 22nd @ noon, host Lisa Kiefer speaks with San Francisco’s Magic Theatre Artistic Director Loretta Greco about her friendship and work with the late playwright, actor, author, screenwriter and director, Sam Shepard, who passed away on July 27, 2017 at the age of 73.
Shepard spent a decade as playwright-in-residence at Magic Theatre, where he premiered his masterworks Buried Child (Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 1979), True West (1980), and Fool for Love (1983, starring Ed Harris an Kathy Baker). Shepard returned to Magic in 2000 to direct the world premiere of The Late Henry Moss, starring Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, and Cheech Marin. Shepard’s body of work spanned half a century and he won ten Obie Awards, the most given to any writer or director.
