An artistic endeavor rather than a band, SF-based Sleepbomb has spent the last 20 years exploring the intersection between cinematic art and sound by recontextualizing musical scores to classic genre-defining films such as Metropolis, Nosferatu, Night of the Living Dead, and Conan the Barbarian. Sleepbomb has performed as live accompaniment at many independent theaters, film festivals and art galleries throughout the Bay Area as well as at national festivals like Litha Cascadia. It’s a trip!!
After many years of only self-releasing live or excerpted recordings, Sleepbomb is celebrating the arrival of their first formal full score album The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari dropping via Koolarrow Records with a record release show at The Kilowatt on Friday, October 13th.
