On Tuesday, December 15th @ 11:59PM, DJ Amazing Grace will kick off the start of Hanukah with an hour of music of the Teimanim (“Southlanders”)—Jews of Yemen and their Yemenite/ Israeli descendants on Radio Dunya. From traditional synagogue chant to Ofra Haza to the recent Yemen-meet-world blend of Ravid Kahalani’s Yemen Blues project, there’s lots of odd- count rhythms and metal percussion guaranteed.
