Vân-Ánh Võ Interview

Posted on December 1, 2021

VanAnhVo

On Saturday, December 4th @ 9AM, DJ Velvet Einstein speaks with award-winning performer of the 16-string đàn tranh (zither) and Emmy Award-winning composer, Vân-Ánh Võ, ahead of her live performance at Zellerbach Playhouse this Saturday evening.

In the world premiere of her latest project, Songs of Strength, she celebrates the voices and struggles of women and immigrants by placing the music from her native culture in conversation with contemporary sounds from around the world. Võ’s Songs of Strength features a vibrant collection of voices—Iranian singer/songwriter Mahsa Vahdat, rapper Kev Choice, and breakdancer Tunjie, plus her multicultural Blood Moon Orchestra—with texts in English, Persian, and Vietnamese.

Cal Performances presents Vân-Ánh Võ and Blood Moon Orchestra at Zellerbach Playhouse this Saturday at 8pm.  Show is All Ages.
