The KALX community is still reeling from the tragic news about Michael Henning, known as Megasoup on the airwaves. We are all grieving this tremendous loss. Michael originally came to KALX in 2003 and was one the most thoughtful, diligent, kindhearted, and wildly knowledgeable DJs, volunteers, and Music Directors we ever had the pleasure of working with at the station. Michael touched the lives of countless volunteers, colleagues, community members, students, and fellow musicians and DJs. He was also a buyer at Amoeba in Berkeley for over 20 years and an expert in World Music. He was deeply invested in keeping the diverse and eclectic sound of KALX alive and inspired DJs of all tastes and backgrounds to expand their knowledge. Michael was also a musician and released music as Selaroda (solo project), Skyminds (duo), and The Why Because. Michael meant so much to so many people in this community of music lovers.
