VASAS on KALX Live!

Posted on September 27, 2016

Tune in to KALX Live! on Saturday, October 1st @ 9PM to hear a live in-studio performance by VASAS!

VASAS are a psych/pop/rock band from Sacramento, CA. Named for a poorly-designed Swedish warship that capsized and sank on its maiden voyage in 1628, the band operates with no lofty expectations–just the bliss of writing and performing simple, personal, and (often) trippy tunes. Their debut self-recorded eponymous EP, released in 2015 on Space Cassette Records, was warmly received and led to a fair amount of college radio play, several West Coast tours, and one epic week-long van breakdown in Nampa, ID.

Most recently, VASAS have completed a full-length album entitled “Diving Bells,” released on cassette by Death Records in September 2016, and soon to be released on vinyl by Bearded Beauty Records. The band navigates through a number of genres and moods, but the sound remains raw and immediate. Influences include The Kinks, Big Star, Television Personalities, and The Go-Betweens.
